Historic night rescue in the Dolomites with Aveo Sapphire AW

An Avincis crew operating from the Treviso HEMS base has rescued two stranded mountaineers from the face of the iconic 5 Torri, in a complex night-time operation flown on Night Vision Goggles.

The mission marked a first for the Leonardo Helicopters AW169 in NVG configuration, demonstrating the aircraft's capability to perform demanding high-altitude mountain rescues in darkness.

At around 2,300 metres, advanced aircraft capability, specialist crew training and seamless teamwork came together to safely recover both climbers, with Aveo Sapphire AW supporting visibility throughout the mission.

A remarkable operation by the Avincis crew, and another example of how the right technology can support crews operating in some of the most challenging environments.
